Incoterms 2020 is the updated version of Incoterms 2010 and has emerged in order to eliminate the demands and observed problems of the trading parties in today's trade conditions. When 2020 is examined, the number of delivery methods remained as 11 units. The most noticeable change is the renaming of the DAT delivery method to DPU (Delivered at Place Unloaded).
Changes Regarding CIF and CIP: The degree of insurance liability in CIF and CIP shipments has changed. Continuation of the “Clauses (C) of the LMA/IUA Institute Cargo Clauses” currently applicable to the CIF (ie insurance at the minimum insurance level); For CIP shipments, "Clauses (A) of the Institute Cargo Clauses", that is, insurance including all risks has been made mandatory.
DAT changed to DPU: DAT (Delivery at Terminal) mode of delivery was renamed DPU (Delivered at Place Unloaded) to emphasize that the destination, the address to which the goods will be delivered, can be any place, not just a terminal.
Transport Opportunity by Exporter and Importer's Vehicle: In FCA, DAP, DPU and DDP delivery forms, the exporter or importer company will be able to carry out international transportation with its own vehicles.
In addition, with Incoterms 2020, the role of the seller and the buyer in customs clearance has also been clarified.
